Project 9.

You may have noticed the "craft hope" button in my side bar. I came across their site last year and have enjoyed keeping up with them a little bit. They organize mass craft projects to bless others. They are currently collecting colorful pillowcases for kids with terminal illnesses!

I really want to look for opportunities like this to teach Eadie Cate (and Levi later) about the different needs all around us. Nothing groundbreaking....but I'm hopeful that she will grow up loving to serve others and being others-minded.

I showed her the picture this morning of this little girl with her pillowcase and started explaining her situation and why we should think of giving her a pillowcase. I burst into tears momentarily and then she just looked at me with a blank stare. I don't think she gets it yet....but maybe after we actually make it and send it off.

Anyway, I just wanted to tell you about that:). You can find CraftHope here. And the pattern for pillowcases here.

(Does anybody know of anything else like this?)

Quilt Block Update.

Well, I followed through with the quilt block idea (and will even make the first deadline....which is quite shocking to myself). It took a little longer than I imagined (most things do, I guess) and I did not manage to make it through without use of my seam-ripper (no surprise here). It was really fun, though, and it gave me a greater appreciation for quilters!
It does have a major flaw (among several minor ones!)...can you see it?

Now, I'm no quilter and I think its still usable for the project, so if I can do it, you can too!

Flood Relief

Anna Maria Horner (Fabric Designer and Nashvillian) is organizing an effort to make quilts for folks who've lost everything in Nashville's recent flood. She is asking for people to send in 12"x12" quilt blocks, while she is doing all the hard work of putting the quilts together. Doesn't that sound fun? and easy? I've never pieced quilt blocks together, but I think this would be a fun (& not overwhelming) way to get started. You can find all the needed info here.
